1st prize for paper at HTC-2011

Prof Sandeep Patil, Associate professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering and In-charge of Center of excellence –CAE has presented the paper titled “Formability Analysis for Trapezoidal Cup Forming Using HyperForm” at HyperWorks Technology Conference 2011, held at Pune and won the 1st prize in Academia category. The case study and paper was prepared and presented under the guidance of Dr R G Tated, Principal, MIT Aurangabad.

Altair Engineering has organized India/ASEAN HyperWorks Technology Conference 2011 at Pune. This conference was a part of the Altair Global HTC series. Over the past 6 years Altair's Annual HyperWorks Technology Conference Series has grown into one of the premier PLM technology events for the advanced manufacturing community globally. These multi-day, international conference brought together more than 1,000 industry professionals from a broad range of industry verticals including aerospace, automotive, consumer products, electronics, healthcare, heavy equipment, military, rail transit, shipbuilding white goods and Education. Together with HyperWorks customers and partners, thought provoking keynote addresses and client presentations highlight industry trends in enterprise simulation and how manufacturers are enabling innovation through simulation.
The highlights of the event was latest trends, developments and applications in the field of enterprise computer aided engineering (CAE) & Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and have become showcase cutting-edge methods, applications and industry examples of CAE-driven innovations. In addition, the conference has given the opportunity to network with Altair experts from across the world to help to learn more about latest applications and enhancements of HyperWorks. More than 120 case studies have been presented during the conference in the field of Computer Aided Engineering.

The case study presented from MIT, Aurangabad has described the methodology of formability analysis for deep drown sheet metal component. The formability analysis is apart of sheet metal forming analysis and HyperForm is the Altair software module used for all kinds of such analysis. This type of analysis helps to reduce Die tryout time and predicts the product failure at early stage of design.

Centre of Excellence-CAE at MIT, Aurangabad provides the technical training in the field of Sheet Metal Analysis using HyperForm and Flow analysis using Moldflow. Also support to small scale industries in and around Aurangabad for their design and analysis issues.
