49th National Premier (National “A”) Chess Championship –2011


49th National Premier (National “A”) Chess Championship –2011 has been organised at MIT Aurangabad.

Date : 8th October 2011 to 22nd October 2011.

The event shall be participated by 400 players from almost all states of India.

Registration of Players: All the participants who participate in the National Championship should get their names registered with AICF. Registration forms will be available at the venue on payment of Rs. 250 for the year 2011. Those who are already registered should produce proof. No unregistered player will be entitled to participate in this Championship. Players from Maharashtra need MCA players registration 2011-12 with payment of Rs.120/-. Already registered players should produce proof.

Lodging & Boarding:The players have to make their own arrangement for their boarding and lodging. However, if they inform us by letter or e-mail latest by 25th September 2011, accommodation will be arranged, for which the players have to pay.

Tournament Regulations: The Championship shall be played under the laws of FIDE Laws of Chess and under Swiss system. The Time control is 90 minutes each for the first 40 moves and 30 minutes each for the remaining game, with an addition of 30 sec per move from move number one.

Tie-Break: Buchholz tie-breaking rules will be applied.

Zero Minute Rule: The zero tolerance rules will be followed (i.e) “Any player who arrives at the chess board after the start of the session shall lose the game. Thus the default time is zero minutes.”

Eligibility: Irrespective of the number of entries the tournament will be of 13 rounds Swiss system with one round per day. The following are eligible to participate:
  • All GM’s
  • Previous National Premier (Including GM’s) – Top 06
  • From National Challengers - Top 30
  • National Junior Boys/Girls Champion - 02
  • National Women Premier - Top 02
  • AICF Secretary Nominees - 02
Single Zone in Asia: As India has been given single zone status, the players to qualify for World Cup will be identified from this Championship.

Tournament Committee: The tournament committee consists of the Chief Arbiter, Secretary of the AICF or his Representative, and the Secretary and two members of the host Association shall be constituted before the commencement of the tournament.

Protests: Protests if any, against the decision of the Chief Arbiter, shall be made in writing with protest fee of Rs.500/- within 30 minutes of the occurrence of the incident. The amount shall be refunded if the appeal is upheld.

Appeals Committee: Before the commencement of the tournament, a five members appeal committee shall be formed by AICF/Organizers. All members and the reserves shall be from the different states. No member of the committee can vote on dispute in which a player from his own state is involved and in such cases the reserves shall take his place in the committee.

Disqualification: No participants will leave the venue before the prize distribution ceremony, without the permission of the Chief Arbiter. The participants disregarding this rule will be suspended for one year.

Interpretation: For interpretation of rules and deciding any point not covered by rules, the decision of the tournament committee shall be final and binding. The tournament committee has every right to make any addition or amendment to these rules without prior notice. However, such changes will be displayed at the championship venue. Qualified players are requested to send their contact details, bio-date and photographs to the organizing secretary by e-mail at the earliest.
